Transcripts: What do we need and when do we need it?

Freshman applicants are advised to hold on sending transcripts until instructed to do so on their MySJSU accounts. Be sure to meet the deadlines posted--failure to do so may mean that your application will be withdrawn.

You will also submit a transcript after you graduate from high school that includes the date of graduation.

We offer provisional admission based on your self-reported information on your admission application. All of this information must be verified before you are allowed to enroll and register for classes at SJSU.

NOTE: Once submitted to SJSU, documents become the property of the university and cannot be released.

Transfer applicants often worry about 'lost' transcripts, when in fact, we need to see documentation of specific coursework completed at various times in the admission cycle. All admission is provisional until your course work is verified by official documents, sent directly from the institutions themselves. No exceptions.

Students who apply to certain impacted majors may be requested to self-report course information, followed by a request to provide verifying transcripts.

Once you submit your intent to enroll at SJSU, you may receive a request to submit official transcripts from colleges you previously attended.

You will submit final transcripts no later than mid-July that include spring term grades. Summer basic skills courses in progress are not used for admission purposes. You must meet these requirements by the spring semester prior to fall enrollment.

NOTE: Once submitted to SJSU, documents become the property of the university and cannot be released.

For spring term applicants (if offered), submit all transcripts and any necessary test scores at the time of application. Transfers who are using summer courses to meet requirements should wait until those grades are posted to submit official transcripts. However, submit completed transcripts from prior colleges. Transfers must complete all four basic skills courses and 60 transferable semester units by the conclusion of the summer term prior to enrollment.
